Our father spent exactly one week there and it was the most horrific experience for him. He has Lewy Body Dementia so routine is very important for him but the staff did not care. He was bruised and had several skin tears. Although we packed the allowed 3 changes of day clothes, 3 sets of pj’s and his diabetic socks, he was in paper scrubs, which with his form of dementia, made him think he was in jail. On one of the many visit with him, we were told that he had been bathed that day, however his hair smelled awful and his scalp had new plague forming from the staff not washing his hair or if they did, they didn’t use the medicate shampoo.

The most overwhelming thing this facility did was change all his meds without consulting with his care team at the nursing facility where he lives nor with his neurologist. Several occasions we requested to speak with his doctor, charge nurse and caseworker to no avail. It wasn’t until we saw his condition on our last visit that we demanded he be released back to the nursing facility where he lives and is taken care of extremely well.

In the course of a week at Compass Senior Care, located in Opelousas General South, what progress he had recently made on new dementia meds his doctor prescribed, has been set back by weeks. He is currently 100% worse than when he was placed there by a Compass nurse that was visiting with our mom at the nursing facility where they live.

A letter has been mailed to the corporate office, Opelousas General South and the state medical board! I pray no other family has to see their loved ones being treated so inhumanly by this facility.

As a back story, this is not our first experience with Compass. Our mom has been in several of their in patient facilities as well as a few of their day programs. Sad to say these were not a great experiences either but mom can communicate and would tell us about her treatment and care but unfortunately dad can’t.

Our family are in the process of switching to another provider and we will never have to have our parents at any compass facility.

By the way, I gave a report of everything I have posted here on Tuesday of this week and not one person has reached out to me.
Do not trust them with your loved ones.

Only reason I rated 1 star is because you can’t post without picking a star rating. Otherwise I would give them a minus 10 stars!!!

The staff kept switching the thermostat from 85 to 60 all throughout the time I was there and gave everybody a cold.
While I was there one of the staff was telling people they don't get smoke break if they don't attend group.
Also they kept my body wash and everything that goes in the box with it like my 10 dollar brush

Just was kick out of there. I was given two little green pills and told it was cholesterol. None of the staff never heard of the person who gave it to me.She never enter it into the computer. And the staff said it didn't happen. And called me a crazy physocpath. Well I show her who was crazy. I cuss out all the nurse's on that shift and busted up a couple of walls,spit on the floor threw a cup of cool aid on the walls. Then they try to give mea shot to put me to sleep. Well they had a fight on there hands. Iam 56 with a heart condition but that did not stop this old man.

My Dad committed suicied in this place ! He was admitted for Major(severe) Depression! His first nursing care plan was to prevent from harm . He also had a very clear plan and they were aware upon admit! The nurse assessed him on a very poor devised assessment sheet! She rated him minimum and never notified the Doctor!! Despite what she said in court! Just hope they live comfortably with this since the jury had no idea what really happened! So please don't let this happen to your family member! The nurse was B Thomassee. Not sure if she still works there! Be careful

taken there for a suicide attempt some 5 years ago or so. Wish I would have gone through it after being in that place. Had tried to cut my wrist. of course that means I'm an undesirable underbelly of society, even though they don't know or care what I've experienced. One extremely hateful nurse with long blond hair looked at my wrists and LITERALLY GOT RIGHT IN MY FACE AND SCREAMED "IS THIS THE ANSWER?" I did fill out a survey to this so-called "professional" facility. Just what kind of at I use the term loosely, (human beings) do you hire. DON'T bring anyone you care about to this. Like I learned in my medical coding course to quote their curriculum..."Health care is an industry" And I was stupid enough to believe it was about caring and healing! I left feeling thoroughly helpless and definitely victimized. Bet they won't print this! I only put one star because they would not let me post this without doing so!

I had doors push closed on me, by two nurses, I knock on nurses window,they ignore you,a nurse woke me up yelling at my 85 years old room mate,with walker,at 8:28pm, to go to bed.

Horrible place! Could not even leave a message for my family member! I am a counselor. Extremely unprofessional!!! I would rate them ZERO if that was possible! Very rude staff!!!!
