Probably my favorite store in Austin! It’s in a true league of its own. Beautifully stocked with gifts, crystal, china, cookware, holiday items, a nursery and a full hardware store. They even have a bridal registry. A walk through Breed’s will make you smile and tempt you on every level. Locally owned, this store is a real gem!

The best, most consistent customer service I have ever experienced at a retail store. Each time I go in, I am greeted nearly immediately by a friendly associate asking if they can help me out. This store feels like a relic of a once-utopian society.

Lots of different things found here. I went to get my keys copied and to buy a missing Ikea screw, and the worker helped me find basically exactly the replica of the screw I needed! It wasn't a perfect replica from ikea, but it was the same in every other way so that it fit into my furniture perfectly. They also have a knife sharpening machine, which is cool because I have some dull knives. They also have postcards for Austin and the state of Texas, which some people on postcrossing have wanted. They're beautiful postcards, but not cheap.

I shopped here quite a bit because it’s the closest store to my house. Prices are extremely high but I put up with it because of convenience. Today I had flatted on my bike on my way home from work and forgot my pump. Luckily I was right by the Ace so I figured my “friendly hardware store” would let me air up my tire and cruise home. The guy behind the counter got obviously annoyed with me and told me to leave my bike outside. He said they have pumps but I would have to buy one to use it. The dude was short with me and unfriendly. Maybe some will say I’m being entitled by expecting them to let me use an air pump, but I also know that doing small act of kindness go a long way and if the shoe was on the other foot I would 100% let him use my pump. Instead I got home to my family late because I had to walk 2 miles home. The guy wasn’t even polite about telling me no. This place is stuck up and unfriendly

This spot is incredible. I’m really amazed and how awesome both Richard & Dallas are in the hardware section. Both are insightful and very friendly.
That’s not to say that I’ve ever had a bad experience with other associates, everyone that I’ve interacted with has been awesome. Every visit is nice and I really prefer going to a much smaller like this where I know they’ll have what I need instead of going to other Home Improvement stores like Lowes or Home Depot where it’s a massive warehouse and they have all these aisles full of things I don’t need or want.

I had not heard of this company and was pleasantly surprised. As I understand it, they are part of Ace Hardware. It reminded me of Elliot’s hardware in Dallas and the hardware store across the street from one of the hotels that I was responsible for in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.
